Why we’re backing our UK skills champions (and why you should too)

This August, teams from over 200 nations will gather to compete in the sticky heat of the Paris summer at the Olympic Games after years of dedication, preparation, and sacrifice. As the last medals are awarded and the excitement of the Games slips away, another opening ceremony will kick off in Lyon in September – the WorldSkills 2024 competition.

Is your organisation prepared for a major incident?

We live in an unpredictable world where an unforeseen incident or environmental event could disrupt a Further Education (FE) College at any moment. Fire, natural disasters like flooding, pandemics or even a cyber-attack could all result in serious interruption to your organisation.
All FE Colleges should be prepared to respond to an unexpected emergency, disaster or crisis. Having pre-planned strategies in place should help you recover from the effects of such situations in as timely a manner as possible.
A Business Continuity Plan (BCP) helps increase organisational resilience by identifying the priority activities and developing suitable strategies and solutions for continuity following a disruption. It will also assist you by assessing the impacts of potential scenarios that could affect your college and help you to allocate the necessary resources to minimise the disruption.

Pearson is planting the seed for sustainability talent with new HTQ

Sustainability is rapidly becoming a key organisational goal for many businesses looking to make a difference in society, the environment and the economy. Sustainability led mission statements and corporate strategies along with demand from stakeholders to encompass the triple bottom line (or the ‘3 P’s’ of profit, planet and people) is increasingly driving harder business objectives. The corporate world is now playing a key role in taking measures to address any adverse effects of their activity and promoting, advocating, and supporting the communities in which they serve.
